Cinnabar moth caterpillar
Day in the garden, painting an outside wall bit of gardening but nothing interesting to photograph, Took the dog (shared dog) for a mooch in the fields close by. Came across a few clumps of ragwort with lots of the cinnabar moth caterpillars adorning it. Ragwort is toxic to some animals especially horses and cattle so the caterpillars do a great job in keeping it down, it is all that they eat.
Apparently these moths have been introduced to parts of Canada to control the ragwort and have done well.
Ok thats enough of a lesson, time for a glass of chilled white wine sat outside, such a lovely evening !!!
