Hot, hot, hot....
A too warm 96F/35C today but fortunately I wasn't outside much, except for my Zoom class meeting this morning. Even then it was a bit warm! But tomorrow is going to be gorgeous!
I went out to blip after my class this morning and was really struck by the number of bees in the garden - I don't know all of the kinds of bees, but there are several, ranging from tiny ones that seem to hover in the air, to big old bumblebees and honey bees. Nothing scary - no hornets or wasps or the scary sounding Murder Hornets that have been found in Washington State...well...I just read that only five have been found. But you can imagine how the Department of Agriculture must be racing to contain them. Here's a story if you're interested.
But my garden is thankfully docile and as the late summer flowers are beginning to bloom, more pollinators are arriving. I saw goldfinches yesterday which are attracted to the sunflowers and these lovely cosmos. The finches stop by the garden in the morning to snack on the cosmos seed heads - the sunflowers aren't quite ready although I've seen them flitting around the heads. I have a lot of cosmos - I scattered a whole bunch of seed in late March, not knowing when or if I'd be able to get to a garden center. So the garden is loaded with them!
Hope your week is off to a grand start!
