A vintage padlock.
This padlock is over 50 years old. I have one exactly like it which was on my dad's toolbox in the 1960s. These locks are certainly well made and never seem to jam up. The lock in the "blip" is securing a large iron manhole cover which seals the access shaft leading to the water inlet which fills Grizedale Lee reservoir.
