A night of thunder, lightning and rain. It started at 11 pm and continued until about 4 am. I looked out a few times and saw sheet lightning rather than the forked type. 

Despite the interrupted sleep I was up at 6.30 and at our local Tesco by 7.30 for some essential groceries. Later in the morning I drove to the garden centre for a birthday card. Decided to buy more bird food while I was there with the car but the birds won’t be getting extra rations yet.

After lunch I walked to the post box and then wandered up through Stock Ghyll. I was surprised at the number of people up there ..... I kept to the easier and wider side. The falls were looking impressive after the overnight rain.
