It would be cool to have a macro lens for this sort of thing?

I never really noticed I liked nature before I got my camera. I find photography really encourages you to look at the world a lot more closely and observe the things you'd definitely otherwise miss. The phrase "cameras never lie" comes to mind. I don't think it's really about truth or lies - through a lens is just a different way of looking at what's around you.
As Nietzsche said: "there is only a perspective seeing, only a perspective knowing," and cameras definitely enable you to explore and appreciate a lot of different perspectives, something we don't generally do in everyday life.
