Elusive Butterfly
“ You might wake up some mornin’
To the sound of something moving past your window in the wind
And if you’re quick enough to rise
You’ll catch a fleeting glimpse of someone’s fading shadow
....................
Across my dreams with nets of wonder
I chase the bright elusive butterfly of love.”
Chasing these around, and then two come along at once. A peacock and tortoiseshell.
Wide Wednesday with the theme Song Titles.
Thanks to RockArea for hosting.
Had to be the beautiful song Elusive Butterfly by Bob Lind.
Written in 1964, he credits the song’s inspiration as the W.B.Yates poem,
“ The song of Wandering Aengus.”
Bob recorded it eventually in 1965 as a “ B” side, and then it was so popular it was released as an “ A “ side in 1966 and became a hit.
Several artists have recorded it since, including Val Doonican,
Petula Clark
Chér
Bobby Vee, and
Dolly Parton
I have always loved the song too.I wonder if it is anyone else’s favourite.
We had some rain during the night, but no thunder storms.
Still very hot.
We did the farm shop this morning, and then did some more washing, which didn’t take long to dry.
Had a prawn salad for lunch, sat out in the garden, and now preparing a BBQ for tea.
Making the most of the good weather before it breaks.
Hope you are all enjoying it too, and managing to keep cool.
