New Wildflower!
A wildflower I've never seen noticed before! It's definitely one of the "Ladies Tresses" - a member of the genus spiranthes - and probably specifically Nodding Ladies Tresses, although I can't be 100% sure. That would make it spiranthes cernua. My Seek app said spiranthes lacera - which is Slender Ladies Tresses, but I am leaning more towards cernua (nodding). In any case - it's an orchid! There were quite a lot of them that suddenly shot up this morning along the dirt road where we walk. I wonder if I could dig one up and move it...? Likely it'd just die. The guys who generally attack the area between the fences and the road with weed whackers (strimmers) haven't done it in several weeks, so I guess that's why I'm getting to see them! Probably we'll discover they've been mowed down tomorrow. Sod's Law.
