Farewell

It was Jennifer’s funeral today. It was such a beautiful celebration of a life. There are six houses on my little road and we all moved our cars and blocked off the end so people couldn’t come down and park. I took a pic of my side of the road as it is so rare to see it without a car parked outside. My sunflowers watched over everything with a stately elegance that Jennifer would have loved.

I was up early and I went out and swept the pavement and road to make it all smart for her. The forecast had been for thunder storms, but instead it has been gloriously sunny and meltingly hot. Jennifer left from her house this morning and neighbours and friends came to see her off. Katherine had made a woven floral garland with flowers from the garden for the casket and they were stunning.

I watched the video link from the crem and then spent time in my garden in the sunshine. From three o’clock people arrived and we sat out in the road. Chairs were all spaced out and it was lovely to be outside where she loved to be. We ended up in a big circle and it was just perfect. Jennifer would have loved it...friends and family, food and drink, shared memories, it couldn’t have been better. I have just left at ten o’clock as the midges were feasting on me and I have to be up for work in the morning. If I have a send off like that I will be happy.
