Birthday Supper

Last week during my birthday, life was a little crazy, so we put off supper out. But it’s one of those things where if you don’t do it soon the moment will have passed and you never know exactly when that moment is. So we went out for supper.

Alberta is known for its high quality beef and they take a great deal of pride in it. Unfortunately I’m not suppose to eat a lot of it. Fortunately it cost a good deal so I don’t mind not eating it much. But a birthday comes once a year so we treat ourselves. I have the steak and she has the salmon.

Medium rare steak, garlic mashed potatoes,
assorted vegetables, and fresh bread. It was lovely.

I ate it slowly so it would last longer. Once a year is a rare enough occasion to want it to last, a long time.

So we ate and celebrated and lingered over coffee. The evening was a success and I asked for the check. That’s when the real surprise came. The young lady said that the bill had already been covered by someone else.

Now that was unexpected and a pretty great surprise.
