Above And Beyond...

Upon This Rock

Day 142 of COVID-19 UK lockdown (opening up)

It was Mrs BB first day back at work, and checking the English Heritage website there was a vacancy to visit Goodrich Castle, Herefordshire, at 1pm. It's in my village so only a couple of minutes and I was there.....I took the car as it was raining heavy - the first in a month.

There's been a castle on the site since 1101 but the present castle dates from about 1147 - it's history here for those interested. I liked the window in the chapel (blipfoto) which was made in 2000 and known as The Millennium Window by Nicola Hopwood. It features the rock on which the castle stands, the river Wye and the three faces symbolise the parishes of Goodrich, Marstow and Welsh Bicknor.

After getting home and drying, it was more assembling of flat pack wardrobes!
