Cheers?

Day started early with nervous opening of the email on results. Like so many others this year the moderation has wreaked havoc on poor Ad...4 grades lower than he was predicted and needed for UoE place. I gave some advice on clearing helplines and who to write to and how to appeal etc then left them to it. Ad very calm as far as I could see and not distraught although he was so set on doing Maths here I really felt for him. Luckily, he has an unconditional offer from Heriot-Watt, so knows he'll be coming up to the city one way or another, but it's hard to plan for that whilst still holding out hope for a change through an appeal. If he was a Scottish student he'd be fine given the recent volte face by John Swinney, as he'd be awarded his predicted grades which were fine, but I'm fairly sure the Westminster government won't do that (probably just to be different to Holyrood - sigh! Do they not realise that whilst they're playing political point scoring we have a huge group of young people feeling rightfully badly done to by their elders?).
Had a couple of large scale meetings taking the mood of people as the new term approaches....it's nervous!
Later, we went out for some more Italian food and toasted Ad regardless....I'm sure he'll be fine and do well wherever...
