DAY 151
AOG2020 day14
we heard that the closing ceremony would be taking in Windsor on the Thames so we headed out there by train this morning. I interviewed one of the swans who pointed out the swans and canadian geese already lining up on the best seats across the river outside the boathouse of Eton boys College. As it was going to be a while we took a trip down the river to the first lock. There was plenty of evidence of people lining up ready to get the best seats. Henry the heron had don very well and was sitting on the lower branches of the willow tree to see team heron go past. There were numerous swans withe their cygnets congregating in the best areas to cheer on their fellow competitors who were opposite. Some were still showing off how they opened their wings to form a nice shelter for the babies, others were doing the balancing act with one leg on their back and another group were practising landing which was part of the ceremony. We understand many of the water fowl competed at Dorney Lake which was the site of the 2012 games here in the UK where they had the boating events. The Mallard ducks had not yet pit in an appearance nor had the pouchards.
Sadly we couldn't stay and watch the ceremony as we had to catch the train home. I hope it went well.
Back home it was very overcast and felt stormy so no closing ceremony here for the birds and bugs I hope HCB had better luck with the snails today in her part of the country
Once indoors we made Hummus for lunch Picked golden raspberries for dinner and then went shopping
A lazy evening
Feel for all the holiday makers trying to get back from France before 4am tomorrow so they dont have to self isolate.
my nephew is a little better today but no sign of discharge yet
