anticipatory
off work for a change today, so did a few chores: alpine range of washing up (had to chase away the mountain goats before i could start), healthy pile of ironing, washing, reduced the munro-esque pile of magazines down to something resembling a foothill, made soup.
also, it isn't the best of forecasts for the next few days so i resisted planting the veg tubs outside - but i did a couple of pots for the windowsill to see if i can get carrots (see above), radishes and salad leaves before june! fingers crossed - i suspect their progress will be monitored here...

and for those asking about the recipe for the amazing cake, here you go:
flourless hazelnut chocolate slice
blend 35g cocoa powder with 80ml hot water in a large bowl until smooth. stir in 150g dark chocolate (melted), 150g butter (melted), 295g soft brown/light muscavado sugar, 100g ground hazelnuts and four egg yolks. beat the four egg whites in a separate bowl until soft peaks form, then fold gently into the chocolate mixture in two batches. pour into a tin 19cm square lined with baking parchment and bake in a 180C oven for about an hour (mine took 50 mins) until firm. cool for a while in the tin, then turn onto a wire rack. dust with cocoa powder when completely cooled.
let me know how it goes!
