In a bit of a jam

Gilbert Greengage was shocked and horrified when it finally dawned on him why he couldn’t find his friends........

We seem to have a bumper crop of greengages this year.  Most still need to ripen a little but there were enough for W to pick and make into two jars of jam.  Some years we don’t get any fruit but in good years we can pick masses; the most we got was 54lbs one year but there was at least as many again left higher up on the tree that we couldn’t reach.  It looks like this year will match that and the quality is better; so far none have split so the wasps haven’t got to them.  I suspect we will be giving them away around the village.
