WITH A SONG IN MY HEART

By lizzie_birkett

Surprise, Surprise!

As our Cilla would have said!
My sister, Sue had no idea we were all going to be there waiting for her in the park.
She thought she was just going with her son Phil, daughter Sam and Sam's fiance Paul.
The weather was perfect for Sue's 70th Birthday Picnic. (Her birthday is actually tomorrow but it's meant to rain)
We hadn't seen each other since well before lockdown so it was lovely to see each other in real life instead of on video chat and without the terrible delay in speech!
Tony and Diane live in Eastbourne and came up for the picnic and also to see their daughter Bryony + Hubby Joel who recently moved up to Liverpool.
Sam and Paul live with Sue as does Phil who returned from living in Tokyo a few weeks ago.
There were no hugs or touching (apart from the 4 dogs who sniffed each other's bums!) and we sat socially distanced with our own immediate families.
It makes it difficult to talk properly across to each other because Frank has tinnitus and Sue doesn't hear too well either. At the start it was even more difficult as a helicopter was circling above - obviously keeping an eye on everyone and making sure there were no massive gatherings - the noise from it drowned out any attempt at conversation.
Anyway after it left it was a really lovely afternoon, eating, chatting and laughing.

We left at about 7pm and were home just before 9pm.

Before we set off this morning we gave Bella her herbal travel sick pills. They worked a treat. Instead of lying miserably in the back and never raising her head she sat up all the way looking out of the window. They are made with ginger.

Sleepytime now!
Goodnight :-) x
