Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

2020 Saturday — A Fun Day

Tonight’s sky was wonderfully beautiful.

As soon as I woke this morning, I went to every window in this little house and opened each one completely. Rarely do we experience a heat wave here in Cayucos on California’s Central Coast, and if we do it is usually in October—yes, an early autumn blast of dry hot temperatures, but not Fogust, I mean August. Yesterday was HOT.

Then by 9:00 a.m. patchy cloud-coverage was shielding us from the sun and we were being spared the heat we had yesterday. Mr. Fun returned home from walking to the pier and back (I don’t go with him because it is too far of a walk for our “senior” pups and I don’t like to put them back in their crates after they’ve been sleeping peacefully and soundly on the foot of my bed). We lounged around, enjoyed the cool, and eventually I prepared a late morning meal for us and fed the pups their morning rations.

Then we showered, made ourselves presentable, and we headed out for an adventure. We drove north 12+ miles to Cambria mostly because a thrift store is there that I wanted to visit. We had a grand time in the “re•create” store. I found a quality spatula, a measuring cup, some material I plan to use with a future craft project and then I found three like-new “Hawaiian” type shirts for Mr. Fun. Meantime, he was deep into the music corner flipping thru used CDs and found a couple he could not resist (at $1 a piece his bargain quotient was satisfied). Possibly the best little feature of this store of “pre-owned” items is that they accept our credit card. Woohoo!

Next, we drove to Shammel Park on the Cambria shoreline just south of Moonstone Beach. The two pups in the backseat go absolutely berserk as we park the car; they know exactly where we are and want outta the car sooner rather than later. The park, any park, is their fun place. We walk and we sit and we walk some more. They sniff every possible surface and acknowledge every furry friend they eye.

Back in our vehicle, it’s time to aim toward the house, but we made a quick stop to grab a bottle of creme soda and one of cherry coke to sip on the return drive.

After arriving home, Mr.Fun puts all the new “used” shirts in the washer and begins the laundry process on our recent purchase. We enjoyed the other half of our large pizza from last night and then settled in for the “sunset show.” This has been a very good day.

Good night from Cayucos on
California’s Central Coast,
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
