Grooming
Connie and I decided to play hooky from the various and sundry "to do" lists that have been cluttering up our lives lately and decided to take the day just for ourselves. After a leisurely breakfast at a Bob Evans we drove east through the Ocala National Forest to Florida's Atlantic coast, stopping along the way whenever I saw a photo opportunity. Connie, a veteran of such drives, brought a book to read. When we got to Daytona Beach the weather was gorgeous. Enough sun on my back to warm these old bones and a stiff breeze to keep it comfortable. I strolled the beach, snapping pics, and Connie strode off for a brisk walk. It was the sort of day that makes your soul smile.
I saw this fellow when we pulled into a boat launch by Bird Island, just off one of the main bridges back to the mainland. Apparently the fishing had been good, he had eaten his fill, and it was time to take advantage of the warm sun and do a little grooming. His soul was smiling too. Life is good.
To see a a few pics that could just as easily been today's blip you can click here. Connie had to help me narrow down the choices when we got home. This was her favorite and after a moment of reflection i had to agree, this was the best of the lot.
.... and the adventure continues.
