A brown hillside

From the top of the hill this morning, we were above the cloud that covered much of Christchurch.

Our long, hot summer is taking its toll on pasture. The Britten Reserve shown here from the Summit Road is grazed by sheep, but they are gone for the time being. Little grazing remains here, just a few browsed tussocks and some dead thistles.
