Montbretia

This plant is in full flower at many roadsides at this time of year. Plenty of it was to be seen on the roadside between Killaloe and Ballycuggaran from where we walked to the summit of Moylussa, the highest point in Clare. It is so widespread that one would believe it to be a native species, but I understand that it is an 'escapee' from gardens and that it competes very strongly with native species.
