Chinese New Year
Happy Chinese New Year!
I have always found new beginnings prompt us to reflect on the past as a way to plan to make changes for the future.
So today, I went and spent some quality time with Mum who I have probably neglected on the time sharing front for a while. The discussion eventually turned to my late grandmother (dad's mum) who seemed really unhappy for most of the time we knew her. Trying to work out why this was so, lead to speculation that perhaps my grandfather may not have been my father's biological father, and maybe we were related to a mysterious 'uncle' who my grandmother apparently had been previously 'in love with'. So photo albums were rifled through as we tried to see if there were any tell tale signs or a resemblance... the conclusion, Nup dad looked like granddad when he was younger...
...I think both mum and I were secretly a little disappointed. And this is one of the reasons I love my mum. She has always been open to questioning the status quo and accepting the curve balls my sister and I have thrown her way. And there have been many!
This is an old photo of my dad in Thailand (or Cambodia?) He is the one in white second from the left. I miss him... xo
