Flamborough Head

Kicking off the week with a Monday adventure; a trip to Bridlington and Flamborough Head!

I parked in the Old Town and walked down to Bridlington harbour - harbours really are great. You can then walk along the beach until you reach the imposing cliffs where you join a cliff top path. You pass Sewerby cricket ground which has the most beautiful setting with views out to sea and a backdrop of Sewerby Hall.

The little treats just keep coming as you continue along the cliff path! Next up to Danes Dyke which offers both a hidden little beach and a nature reserve. As you get a tad further you will pass South Landing - an entirely pebbled beach which is hidden in the middle of the two steep cliff faces.

Before long you spot the lighthouse at Flamborough Head on the horizon and head towards it. The white chalk cliffs are really striking as are the arches and stacks formed by the erosion from the sea waves. I remember studying this area for Geography at school!

A really fantastic walk, a lovely picnic spot at Flamborough Head and then a walk in Flamborough itself to catch the bus back to Bridlington!

What a grand day out...and the added bonus...surprisingly quiet!! I maybe saw 10 people on the entire walk, with not many more at Flamborough Head!
