Small Tortoiseshell

I found this individual sitting on the lawn looking a tad ragged and feeble.   As the wind was getting up and thunder rumbling I picked it up and popped it into my bug hotel where it crept off to hide.

As it turned out the thunder came to naught but at least the butterfly is safely tucked away in the warm and dry.
