Day nest
We drove to Kibwezi yesterday to see the mango farm. The mangoes were featured in a blip last month. The whole day was one amazing experience after another. We drove into the semi-arid parts of Kenya which are sparsely populated by people and heavily populated by sisal and fine red dust. But dotting the horizon were baobab trees and richly mangled acacia-like trees which must have been there for hundreds of years. But boy, was it ever hot! fortunately, it was dry heat.
After a good three hours, we arrived at the chocolate-milk river which was the main source of sustenance for the mango farm. Hundreds of mango trees were being looked after by surprisingly few people and done with very little machinery outside of the water pump.
I could go on and on but I will not. Suffice it to say that I was challenged...Chip, the mango farmer? Hmmm...watch this space.
But the shot of the day (and it was hard as there were HUNDREDS) was this one. The weaver birds had been busy in this tree. Sure, I played with the colour but so happy with these results.
