Cousin Barbara, Looe, August 1939
Lorna's Cousin Barbara is snapped playing on a swing when on holiday with the rest of the clan in Looe in August 1939. Here Barbara is a free single girl, aged 19, enjoying the late summer sunshine in Cornwall.
Five years later Cousin Barbara was married to an officer of the Parachute Squadron. Her husband Robert served in the D Day Normandy landings. Later, following victory in Europe in May 1945, he was sent to the Far East to see out the end of the war.
