Plus ca change ...

So we've always liked photographing trees! And skies. Got photos of both subjects that my grandfather took (and developed and printed himself) early last century. But this isn't one of them. This is a magic lantern slide, labelled "Ancient Fig Tree, Heliopolis". The tree is surrounded by turbaned gents. Just googled 'fig tree' and it gets loads of mentions in the Bible - from being cursed to being blessed. Talking of curses - another of the fruits of this tree is to provide a useful euphemism ... but I don't give a fig about that!

Yes, it's another grey day in PicturePoemLand and we're sorting generations' worth of clutter and eBaying stuff, including these photographic images on glass slides passed down from Mr PP's grandfather. Fascinating.
