Sassi di Memoria e Comunanza

Casalpusterlengo is one of the municipalities of the first red zone of Italy (here).

The city remembers its coronavirus deaths with a monument, made by ordinary people. The idea was to bring a smooth, white stone from the River Po, with the name of the person you want to remember written on it (in the extra photo, you will find a detail of the stones).

A cone's trunk, which embraces all the stones, represents the community that collects in itself the memory of those who have left. Next to it there's the tip, broken but fallen on its feet: a symbol of the fact that we are moving forward.

Many, who have not been able to give a last farewell or celebrate the funeral, have found in this initiative the only way to mourn.

It will be inaugurated on August 21, exactly six months after the start of the emergency.

Casalpusterlengo è uno dei comuni della prima zona rossa d'Italia (qui).

La città ricorda i suoi morti per coronavirus con un monumento, fatto da gente comune. L'idea era di portare un sasso bianco e liscio del Fiume Po, con sopra scritto il nome della persona che si vuole ricordare (nella foto extra, trovate un particolare dei sassi).

Un tronco di cono, che abbraccia tutti i sassi, rappresenta la comunità che raccoglie in sè il ricordo di chi se ne è andato. Accanto c'è la punta, spezzata ma caduta in piedi: simbolo del fatto che si va avanti. 

In tantissimi che non hanno potuto dare un ultimo saluto, nè celebrare il funerale, hanno trovato in questa iniziativa l'unico modo per elaborare il lutto.

Verrà innaugurato il 21 Agosto, a sei mesi esatti dall'inizio dell'emergenza.
