The UAE has continued to invest heavily in its armed forces as part of a major modernisation and enhancement programme that it has been implementing in recent years. The eleventh IDEX defence exhibition kicks off in just over a week.

Today, the practising pipe bands were drowned out by the army boys playing in their Leclerc tanks. There have been reports in Janes that the UAE Army is trying to sell its heavy armour, including the Leclerc tanks and BMP IVFs to allow it to re-invest the money recovered in medium weight forces and equipped wheeled armoured vehicles.

For security reasons I am not allowed to publish any photos of them practicing on the arena in front of my office.
