Fossil Stepping Stone

A very enjoyable site visit today, to look at a woodland creation site. The site had a few whopping great holes in it (the kind you could fit a cruise ship in), a legacy of opencast mining. The guys who worked it obviously enjoyed arranging these great slabs as standing stones, and had used this fossil as a stepping stone. Carboniferous I think, but I don't know!

It was good to have a long and interesting walk, on an unexpectedly pleasant day.
