Oh, Zucchini, let me count the ways • I can boil you, or bake you, fry you or grill you, you can be pickled or raw, and added to soups, sauces and salads • Zucchini is Italian, Courgette is French, and don’t forget Marrow or Baby Marrow • You can be green or yellow, even striped • We think of you as a vegetable, but you’re really a fruit being a member of the Summer Squash Family • Bernard Lavery of Plymouth Devon, UK, grew the World’s largest courgette at 69 1/2 inches long and 65 pounds!! • August 8 is National Zucchini Day in the US, otherwise known as “sneak a zucchini on to your neighbor’s porch day”, in the middle of the night! • One plant feeds a family of four; four plants feed the neighborhood.
