I read in the paper that for the past four years BT has been encouraging the public to save these iconic structures from being scrapped by adopting a box for a £1. More than 1800 phone boxes have been bought by communities through this scheme and the boxes have been put to a wide range of uses including cash machines, defibrillation units and even a pub. However the "adopt a kiosk" scheme has proved so popular that now BT has put the price up to £2000. How greedy of BT to spoil what was such an original idea.
