Brooks Bay
Everywhere seemed too busy today after we’ve had a few quiet days.
We spent what felt like ages trying to find somewhere with some space and beach to ourselves. The tide was high and the waves wild but we settled here on a wild stretch of golden sands and rugged coastline just up the road from the more popular Compton Bay.
The kids enjoyed playing in a pool on the beach whilst we sheltered from the wind on the grassy edge and ate lunch. Anya made a friend to play with and we didn’t hear from her for the next couple of hours as they created dams together, played imaginary superhero games and ran back and forth into the waves. Max followed them round, copying everything they did with the odd random stone thrown into the water.
Once the waves had gone out we wandered down the beach searching for fossils (there are meant to be lots) but found only some fools gold and shells. We didn’t mind though, it was lovely day.
And if that wasn’t enough beach we walked down to the local beach after tea at the campsite for an evening stroll. There’s always something special about the beach at night.
