Planting the Harvest

Last week I harvested bulbs from the old garden in Norfolk.   Today I finally started planting some out here.   These Crocus niveus will wait until the sand bed is made, hopefully in a couple of weeks but today some colchicum, cyclamen and snowdrops were given new homes.   The garden soil is full of stones, not from the beach but most likely glacial outwash, laid down many centuries ago.   Hard digging!

The current storm with it's powerful winds has seen waves crashing against the promenade in scenes reminiscent of winter but the surrounding buildings and the boundary wall mean it's had no impact on the cold frames in the garden.
