Never Ever Drive a Car Whilst Using a Camera

This is the Kintore Arms Hotel in Inverurie.

It's a slightly confusing building since Kintore is a few miles from the site and is a Royal Burgh as of course is the town and Royal Burgh of Inverurie.

The coat of arms above the door is that of the Royal Burgh of Kintore and reads "QUAE AMISSA SALVA" which translated reads "WHAT HAS BEEN LOST HAS BEEN FOUND" and refers to the hiding from Cromwell's troops of the Crown Jewels of Scotland by one John Keith (later Earl of Kintore) near Dunnotter Castle by Stonehaven.

Inverurie's coat of arms by contrast is a mite simpler and reads "URBS IN RURE" which seemingly means "THE TOWN IN THE COUNTRY" which kind of just says what's on the tin. It is indeed a town in the country.

Opened in 1860 as a railway hotel serving Inverurie in Aberdeenshire the original Kintore Arms hotel building was minus the bay windows. Those were seemingly added in 1927 using reclaimed granite from Slains Castle of Bram Stoker and Dracula fame. There are of course two Slains Castles or even three if you count the pub in Aberdeen!

To further complicate matters, there is a second Kintore Arms Hotel in, wait for it, the Royal Burgh of Kintore. It has no bay windows.

No pedestrians were hurt during the taking of this shot however I have resolved to desist from taking images from the driving seat of a moving vehicle during inclement weather.
