Blackpool Sprint 1968
Way back in time, when I was competing in Motor Sport, the Lancashire Automobile Club organised a motor car 'sprint' competition along the North Promenade at Blackpool. Basically it was to see how quick you could be from a standing start to a finish line ¼ mile ahead. Unfortunately the promenade had curves bounded by solid concrete walls and not a lot of room in between........ It was a bit hairy and the 'authorities' refused a licence for future events. Thus it was a 'one off' event (unique even....). This old photograph is of my trophy - a wooden cigarette box - oh how times have changed.
(It's surprising what you find when you're looking for something else....) :-)
