A Turkish tile
The Ottomans were renowned for their beautiful ceramics and tiles with the best being made around the town of Iznic. The glory days of tile-making for the Sultans are long gone but a few craftsmen still produce hand painted tiles in the old way. This one is a modern take on a traditional design of peach leaves and fruits, together with a single fly!
I have back-blipped a few images from our sojourn to Edinburgh and Yorkshire, starting here.
