Canada Hose Company Building
This historic structure was built in 1845 as the first fire station in Cumberland. It was built after a fire in 1833 destroyed 75 buildings downtown. The city had a fire company before, but it wasn't centralized. The fire company also got better equipment, including a fire engine, ladders and axes. I don't know why it's called the Canada Hose Company.
There were dark clouds coming in when I went out to get this photo. I thought I could beat the rain, but it rained once I got to this building. My 10-minute walk home was in sporadic rain. Thankfully it wasn't heavy.
