Home grown
Eating the last of the 'marrows' which grew while we were on holiday, with a stuffing made of tomatoes from the garden, the last of the frozen chestnuts collected last autumn, and herbs from the garden, plus lean turkey mince, with french beans freshly picked. It was very tasty.
I went in to Norwich this morning to collect some things from my office to make working at home easier. My footrest was the main thing I wanted, then the fudge fingers out of my drawer, oh and some notes, plus some stationery. It was an easy drive in and back again, and I was home by 10.
A short day, finishing at 5, and not a huge amount done but I didn't feel too stressed by it. I needed to finish as it was getting warm. I had jobs to do that I hadn't done at the weekend, so finished a little bit of ironing, cleaned the bathroom and prepared some of the dinner, with Mollie doing the rest. At 8, before the light had faded completely, we put the hens in a carrier and their house in the trailer, and took them down to the allotment. Even though it was almost dark when I put them in their new run, I am pretty sure they were over the moon with it, and while they should have been going to bed, they stayed up pecking and scratching at their new grass. I will go up there first thing in the morning to spend a bit of time there, and I'll get a photo so that you can see them. I just hope they don't fly over their fence to the neighbouring plot - then I will be in trouble.
Home in time for the final episode of A Suitable Boy.
