Cogito, ergo sum
The band took on a couple of guest stars today with my mum and niece joining us on a quest to Mountfitchet Castle.
We had a lovely wander around the grounds, with the children collecting stamps on their own quest within a quest to obtain prizes. It was lovely to see my slightly older children looking after their slightly younger cousin and ensuring that she didn’t miss out on any of the fun!
Pictured here is a ducking stool, which disappointingly we weren’t allowed to play on….
Other highlights of the trip out included my mum almost running me over and in a startling case of history repeating itself (my brother in law remaining scarred from a previous school-era trip when goats ate his lunch at the same venue) marauding goats once more coming after our lunch.
Even found some time in the evening to take The Eldest out for dinner before we went to see Inception. It’s the tenth anniversary re-rerelease and I have to say that that film holds up well and is as fresh today as when it first came out. Delighted to see that she was as hooked with the film as I was and that final shot gave rise to a philosophical debate about the nature of dreaming.
I like the fact that she was questioning her own reality and that our conversation had turned to Descartes’ deceptively simple maxim.
