The road to ...

... Christchurch! We went the inland route (having first collected our rather unremarkable certificates from the hospital, I expected gold leaf at least for that price) and it was long but truly spectacular. Miles and miles of empty roads and stunning scenery from Alpine (lots of snow on the mountains and around Lewis Pass) to rolling green hills to wide river valleys. Now ensconced in a rather grotty motel near the airport. Not quite as scary as American ones in the movies but not somewhere is like to spend much time. Himself has gone to the supermarket in search of soup and I think it will be an early night!
