A Juvenile Woodpecker

I spent a couple of hours on the deck at the cabin, trying (in vain) to capture the visiting hummingbirds, but the light was just not good. Instead, I concentrated on the various woodpeckers.

This is a juvenile red-headed woodpecker. Our host Steve said that they don't get their red head until they get older.

He/she is a handsome bird.
