The Flight of the Pelican
Went to Tuscawilla Park and counted Pelicans only because I was curious. I had a friend call me on Saturday to say that about 100 of them landed on the pond and I should go there to check it out. Unfortunately I didn't make it till almost sunset and there were only 10 or 20 left there. Today I counted 57 and they were still coming in. They came down in spurts and it's fun to watch them land.
My neck and back are causing me a lot of pain so I didn't stay long. I hope to have insurance soon to find out what can be done. I've now lost 50 pounds but have a lot more to lose. If surgery is needed, I have to be prepared.
I met a very nice young man at the park. His name is Connor and he just moved here from Michigan. I can't imagine a 19 year old moving down on his own but he seemed to be intelligent and positive about the move. He was asking all kinds of questions about the birds and he smiled when I would describe facts about the birds he was questioning. I gave him one of my business personal cards that have my Flickr, Blipfoto link and my e-mail address on them. He said that he would check it out. I also told him to e-mail me to let me know how he's doing as he doesn't have a job yet.
