Crows Getting the Walnuts

Most of the time, the crows get the walnuts from our two walnut trees well before we can. They smash them to the pavement before they're ripe, leaving us with a big mess of green husk and broken shell. The squirrels get them, too, leaving their chewed off bits of husk in little piles everywhere. None for us; when we want walnuts, we have to buy them. How's that for a first world problem.
