The Snowy Fisherman

The botanical garden I go to has a small pond. I go there to find the resident wood duck...who may have moved. I haven't seen him this year.

They also have quite a few turtles in the pond. You can usually buy turtle food on the premises for a quarter. But...not today. Closed.

A family of three showed up on their bikes...looking to feed the turtles. No food. I had a bag in my van. (Doesn't everybody carry turtle food?) We struck a deal. A bag of turtle food...for...let's see...how about 2 bucks? Good deal for both. They get to feed the turtles...I get an 80% markup. Sweet.

The turtle foods draws in the turtles, and the small fish. The small fish pulls in the snowy egret. Woo-hoo! 2 dollars richer...and camera at the ready.

I put way too many pictures of the snowy egret on my

FLICKR PAGE. I'm almost ashamed to admit that I took 432 pictures of the little white bird. I probably would have taken more if the turtle feeders hadn't run out of food. The nerve.

Also...a couple of close-ups on the other page. Just to clear things up...I DID take 432 shots of the snowy...but I gave them the turtle food. A very mini Sunday good deed. (I listened to the sermon this morning.)
