Japanese anemone

It's that time of year ...
It's been a tough week, so this was posted in haste (initially as Cosmos, because I was very distracted... now corrected).
The good things: Ruth & family have almost completed their house move to Sheffield.  We've had some lovely times with her two little ones and Jack's daughter, all playing together.
The other side of the coin: not only Monday night's burglary, but also the sad farewell to Betty,  elderly lurcher, on Wednesday.  Her kidney disease suddenly went from something we could manage with diet to causing noticeable pain and disorientation.  So we booked that end of the afternoon vet appointment that they reserve for these times. It was peaceful; there was no distress.
Now we're both looking at those empty spaces in the house where she used to lie.
