Bramble planned our walking route this morning.
I tend to avoid the woods once they wear their leafy outfits as I am a lover of light . 
I was thinking about the recent research which suggests that the natural vegetation of our Kingdom would be open canopy forest , if left to run free !.
During my years of formal education it was the received wisdom that our vegetation would be closed canopy forest , which I have always thought would be very gloomy.  I like the idea of open wooded land much better, all those sunny meadows to enjoy . 
Whilst not wishing autumn upon us , I am looking forward to the leaves turning into their autumnal selves and tumbling to the ground . I shall, once again, be tempted to walk through our numerous, local wooded places.
