A cow named Cheese
This morning I had another lovely ramble around the back of the nature reserve. Jobs included counting the sheep (41), checking over the ponies (almost inaccessible in a swamp) and saying hello to the cows, who had wonderfully exotic names like Samsonia and Dahlia - except for this one who was called Cheese! We saw two buzzards rather struggling to rise on non-existent thermals and a heron hunting for frogs. No deer. As far as flora was concerned we came across a late water avens and a very late yellow flag amongst many others, though truly autumn is on its way. The swallows were circling, not quite off, but we reckoned they would be as soon as the weather had settled..
A view of one branch of the river is in Extras, ditto the water avens (geum rivale).
Ha! Start of the weekend. Have a good one xx
