Honey Crisp

Please look in large ("L"):

There is nothing better than Michigan Honey Crisp Apples.

We hope for a better season. Last spring, the weather took an oversize bite out of Michigan's apple crop.

We lost 95% of our peaches, 90% of our apples, 85% of our cherries. A typical Michigan apple crop is about 25 million bushels. This year, Michigan farmers harvested about 3 million bushels. The last time we had anything of this magnitude was 1940.

The culprit was the unseasonably warm March temperatures that brought out fruit tree buds 4-6 weeks early. That was followed by several below-freezing nights just a few weeks later, which doomed early blossoms. We are keeping our fingers crossed that this is a normal year.
