HMS Arethusa

For Sam and Tess (as always).

Mum with her Dad's navy collar from his time during the war, he served on HMS Arethusa, Thomas Stopper. Sam was fascinated by the three war records, all of which gave a different height and one gave a wrong date of birth. He passed long before my time and when mum was very young.

Dad also showed us a magical bit of history, what looked like his Dad's engagement ring, HW-CS 1.1.36, a proposal on new years day, 1936 between Helen Walker and Charles Sinclair, they got married that August. We were all lucky enough to have Grandma Sinclair with us until 1993 but we lost my Granda Sinclair when i was 4.

And a happy birthday to my sister today, another year younger!
