Oak plant

This tiny oak plant is probably four or five years old. It grows on the church property on an unfavorable spot on top of rock, but it grows. A couple of years ago we talked about it with a church functionary and she agreed to see to it that the gardener will be careful with the lawn mower. 

But last winter I noticed that all of the branches had been not cut, but chewed off, as can be seen in the photo on extra. Yet there is new growth, and let's hope that the bunnies and deer will stay away.
