Getting away

...in our new car.  We finally own a vehicle (Toyota hybrid Rav4) that can get us to the ranch.  Our 15 year old, Toyota Prius hybrid with 240,00 miles = 386242.56 km finally said, "Enough." It was not off-road ready. In the past, when we wanted to go to the ranch, we have had to rent a 4-wheel drive.

As you can see, the Salas ranch (we inherited it and share it with 4 other sibling couples) is a square mile of nothing but desert; even so, it gives us such peace and respite from the world.  After a rain, depending on where you are, the ground turns reddish brown.  Hiking to mesa tops brings awe-inspiring views, but the altitude and heat today have left me exhausted!
